Refund/Cancellation Policy
All classes come rain or shine, so always be at the class on time and be prepared for the weather. No show or missing the course date is not the base for Griffin Sailing School, LLC (abbreviation: GSS) to offer a refund or make special accommodations. As a courtesy to loyal students, GSS may offer other dates for free, but it is subject to availability in the class. Makeup day is available as a stand-by option, and the student must check with GSS for any availability. If the standby option exceeds 21 days, the student must pay for the make-up day at a prorated rate for the course. Inclement weather or no wind cancellation is up to GSS and/or the instructor in charge, and the make-up day may be offered.
All Courses and Other Activities requested dates must be confirmed by GSS after payments are received by GSS. Any payments do not guarantee the reservation. Only registered students will be considered for reservations. Registration must be filled out for each student separately to confirm the requested dates for each student. If no confirmation is received by the student at 21 or fewer days off your course dates, please, contact GSS and request one.
All cancellations are subject to a $200.00 cancellation fee deduction plus all supplied materials, tools, shipping costs, sales tax, and other expenses. All shipped packages with books, materials, tools, sales tax, shipping, etc., are non-refundable.
All canceled courses in the Caribbean are non-refundable. All charters require a 50% non-refundable deposit, and complete payment must be received at least 21 days before the charter date.
Cancellation within 21 days or less before the date of your course, no refunds policy will take place, with exceptions of:
-
If you fill in the vacant place with the qualifying candidate, we will refund the course cost minus sales tax, shipping cost, supplied books, materials, and tools. We may offer to reschedule, but only during the season of the course date and based on availability and your schedule coordination.
-
There are no refunds if the GSS school location is unavailable due to natural disasters such as a hurricane, tornado, fire, earthquake, torrential rain, flood, or other reasons. However, GSS will allow students to make up a lost day on another day, provided that we will have available slots in the class. This day can also roll over for the following season.
All Course Challenges fees are not refundable. Missed dates will be offered on a make-up date as a one-time courtesy of GSS. If the student fails the written test, GSS may submit one free test within 21 days; otherwise, a retake fee of 100.00 dollars will be required for each written examination. If a student fails the practical test, GSS will recommend 3 hours of private sailing coaching, and if this will not help to improve the student's skills, GSS will recommend taking the whole course.
All Gift Card sales are final. Sorry, no refunds and no exceptions.
If you would like to make another arrangement or have questions, you are welcome to call Kris at (845)688-2000.
