ASA 101, Basic Coastal Cruising,
Everyday lecture starts 10 AM sharp until about 12:15 PM. After a brief lunch, from about 1:15 PM to 6 PM we will practice sailing on the water - be prepared to sail in the light rain. On the third day, after lunch, students will take written test and upon passing it, they will do a practical test of their choice. "Silent Instructor" will be present to make sure you are safe, and to provide corrections if any are needed. Upon completion of the course, the instructor will sign your certification in your ASA logbook. All documentation will be filed with ASA for the final approval and the ASA office will mail your sticker according to your level of achievement (please, allow time for processing).

ASA 101, Basic Keelboat Sailing
Able to skipper a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20 to 27 feet in length by day in light to moderate winds (up to 15 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards. Auxiliary power operation is not required.

RECOMMENDATIONS To start your journey, take the Online Sailing Course entitled “Your First Sail”. In this fun and interactive course you will learn sailboat basics, including sailing terminology, commands used at the helm, and how the sails move the boat forward.
