ASA 118, Docking Endorsement
No experience is required for the course. Able to safely and efficiently dock an auxiliary powered sailboat (single inboard or outboard engine). Knowledge of basic auxiliary power theory, engine and steering controls, proper use of dock lines, and crew communication and safety.
Students will practice various options for docking and securing vessels to the dock. Learn useful knots and options to approach docks and the effects of current and wind conditions.This course is arranged per request. It is a 5–6-hour course if a minimum of 4 students sign up for the course, 2-4-hours if less. Some lectures are required if the textbook was not studied and primarily practiced on the water.
